Lassi

View Full Profile

Born in Duluth, Minnesota, Joshua Lassi was raised in South Texas with his brother, mother and step-dad.  He spent summers in Duluth with his father and brother and returned to the Northland on a permanent basis to attend the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1997.  At UMD Josh began his musical career with the bands "49.01", "Josh and the Kid" and "BlamelessDays".  Each new experience helped Josh discover more about himself and his musical talents.  "BlamelessDays" was recognized as The College of St. Scholastica's very first winner of "Crowd Favorite" award at their inaguaral Battle of the Bands.  At UMD he also met the woman who would eventually marry and begin a family with.  Trina Nelson became a big influence in Josh's musical development.  Her patience and understanding made things easy for Josh to pursue.  In 2002 Josh began singing with local coverband "OneHitter" ( www.1hitter69.com).  Although 1hitter's success keeps Josh more busy than he can often handle he refuses to stop writing his own music and performing it for others.  Over the years he has played over 40 venues in several different cities.  Blending several different rock and roll styles Josh prefers a more low-key mellow vibe in his music.  Influences such as Better Than Ezra, Pearl Jam, Jack Johnson and Mathbox 20 are the most evident in a lot of Josh's music.  He is currently recording new material to add to the more than 30 songs that are somewhere in his archives.  The health and well-being of Josh's soul depends solely on his ability to perform for others.  Music is what truly makes him tick.
